In her new book “The Light We Carry,” Michelle Obama gets personal. The former first lady discusses her dad being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, the importance of nurturing friendships, and the challenges of childcare. She also delves into relationships, not only her own but what she sees happening with the younger generation. In an interview on NPR’s Life Kit podcast, she shares the advice she tells any young adult who asks her about marriage: “You have to be prepared to have long stretches of discomfort,” she said. “And [by] long I mean it lasts for years.” ‘Marriage is never 50/50’

Yes, indeed. I could see how being married to a dyed in the wool communist like Obie would cause Mooch to feel this way.

Now there are two things I never dreamed I'd see in the same sentence, "Michelle Obama" and "philosophy."

Years? Years of 'discomfort' in your marriage? Why would anyone 'prepare' for such? I guess you chose poorly. Don't assume we all should.

I’ve been married thirty one years and can count on one hand the days I’ve been ‘uncomfortable.’
She shouldn’t assume the rest of the world is as wretched as she is.
But if Mike is miserable, I’m happy!

Think of how this book will influence many younger people to be turned off from marriage thinking it is years of misery. There was a solution to her situation but she liked the gravy train she was on.

I'm guessing it was/is decades of discomfort when your husband takes off every year...alone....for a birthday week...'alone'... in your Olde Chicago home, that no one else even visits except for that week, where he enters and doesn't leave, nor does 'anyone' else.Until the week is over. And even though every other action, every motion, every word, is covered diligently by a fawning Media... NO ONE ever even asks what it is that is going on there.

I don't know about the rest of you fabulous L-Dotters but for me I've tuned out the ramblings of the Mooche. This person grew up not having to struggle, managed to go to college, gets great jobs, meet an up-and-coming political hack, get married, have kids that are so far doing well into their adult years. Become one of the most beloved (by democrats) FLOTUS' of all times and now live a life of riches and luxury only most people can dream of. The Mooche should just go away and enjoy her riches, but she won't because she's a racist grievance monger. That's why like I said I just tune her out.
