Woke’ corporations that have dominated social media giant Twitter for years are pulling their ads in the aftermath of Elon Musk’s takeover of the platform.
Pfizer on Thursday announced that it was ‘pausing’ ads, but it wasn’t the only corporation upset with Americans being allowed to discuss politics openly on the major digital platform.
Some advertisers are concerned that Mr. Musk could scale back content moderation, which they worry would lead to an increase in objectionable content on the platform. Others are temporarily halting their ads because of the uncertainty at the company as top executives exit and Mr. Musk considers a raft of changes, some of the people said.
Twitter is not a 'threat to democracy.' Twitter *is* a democracy.
It's the place for arrogant elites to get public shaming. Where the powerful can be reminded of their failures. Where the media can be held accountable for lies.
It is the great leveler. THAT'S why they hate it.

Pfizer doesn't need to advertise, the have the FDA and White House doing all the selling for them that they need by forcing experimental vaccines on innocent people.

#2 Pfizer being one of the boycotters is not odd at all. Pfizer does not want free discussion of its criminality regarding the jabs and the information or lack of truthful information regarding their vaccines.

here's what Elon should do..
contact every advertiser who has left..
thank them for their business..
make it known that all advertisers coming
back after leaving
will have their rates doubled..
they are dealing with a man who has
unlimited money and a new fan base
who will support him..

Of course, Pfizer would be one of the boycotters. Now, that people will be free to post the truth about their poison, they don’t want to stick around to witness the carnage.

Which of these companies will be next on Musks hit list to purchase, clean house, and bring back to what their core business is.? In some cases, it is poor advice from their advertising agency.that cowardly executives are following.

Remember when the great Maha Rushie called Sandra Fluke a slut and a bunch of his advertisers pulled out in protest? Remember how some of them lost so many customers that they came crawling back begging to be allowed back on his show? Remember how Rush told them to pound sand?
Elon, you need to follow Rush’s lead.

Never forget the Obama era bailout of GM and Chrysler, but Ford never took a dime.

Doesn't General Motors have enough trouble competing with well made cars from other countries.
Why would they want to run off the customers who are trying to buy American made products?!

I agree with OP. Yet somehow in John Dover's mind, ''Growing List,'' and ''Many other companies'' are actual company names. These he tosses onto the list we can actually scratch around in. Don't claim a full list unless it IS one. Like Pat once said to Mike, ''Bidness is bidness.''

I'll never understand why the CEO's think only the crazy libs buy their products. Do they receive thousands of emails from 'people' telling them they better toe the line or else. Have they ever heard of ''bots'' or email bombing where one kid in moms basement can send out hundreds of emails with the click of a key? Or are they just stupid? Yes, I'll boycott these companies and whichever ones decide to join them. Idiots.

#23. I do know. I am on the board of directors of two NYSE companies, a “small” oil company and an equipment company. Been the chair of ESG, too. Been on the board of others.
There is TREMENDOUS pressure from regulators, financial analysts, big funds (e.g., BlackROT) to be woke. The pendulum is swinging, but there is a revolving door amongst the above groups and they are sheep, too scared to leave the flock.
So officers hire the “right” ad agencies (who are woke and pressure them to spend money at the right media, with the right color and sexual orientations of actors).
The directors are scared to speak up because gone are the days of investor or founders having material representation. It’s professional BOD who get shuffled around from one board to another. Right as you figure out what is going on and causing trouble, have to move.

OK here we go: 1) Audi, never owned on never will. You have to be pretty wealthy to be able to pay for service on one. 2) General Mills, I stopped eating cereal 40 years ago. 3) General Motors, my 1963 Impala that burned a quart of oil a week was the only GM product I ever owned or ever will. 4) Mondelez who makes Oreo cookies. This on is difficult. My spouse is gluten intolerant and they make gluten free Oreos. #17 It is OK to buy the gluten free stuff. Finding it, keeping it fresh and paying for it is expensive. The gluten free Oreos are reasonably priced. 5) Volkswagen, had a beetle while in college. It got the job done. Don’t care for them now. Will never buy one. 6) Interpublic Group/ including CVS and Nintendo, don’t use either. 7) Havas Media, Who the hell are they? O2, who the hell are they? Hyundai, Never cared for them and will not buy or rent one. Domino’s Pizza, ate a ton of them while in college. Haven’t had one in over 30 years. I can survive without. Only glitch is they do make a gluten free pizza. Probably tastes terrible.
One more thing. I have never used social media in the past. However, I a thinking about setting up an account on Twitter and paying $8.00 a month to help Elon out.

Aldi's imitation 'Oreo' is better than the real thing. With the Aldi sandwich cookies, you are satisfied after eating a few cookies. With the name brand, you have to eat 1/2 the bag to feel satisfied.
Aldi's has gluten free foods- not sure about these cookies.

Not to worry Biden's handlers and the fascist Democrats have driven the economy into two continuous quarters in recession and Q4 will be even worse. The retribution will be by fascist design a decline is discretionary income and purchasing their corporate labels in favor of Dollar General.

I could have written the #26 list, so thanks for saving me all that typing. Pfizer has a lot to hide so truth on Twitter would be devastating for them. No chance of ever buying GM, Volkswagen or Audi cars when Japan is light years ahead of them.
Stating publicly that you are against truth and the First Amendment is not a wise business move at this time. You can send my consulting fee to my accountant.

Not a hardship for me...I already drive an Acura and Oreo cookies lost me when they moved out of America...just as Burger King when they moved to trudeau's crazy Canada....I watch and listen carefully when making a purchase...I avoid Walmart because all their products come from china and only support my local grocery and butcher...I shop at garden festivals and buy local fruits and veggies...I get my eggs and chicken from my local Amish farmers.....you can do it...it just takes thinking out what's best for America...

I consider Audi not advertising as a public service. Of course, there will be tremendous unemployment in the auto repair industry if sales from a few percentage points.

It's interesting to see that companies are pulling out of Twitter because Musk's politics doesn't suit them. I just finished reading that Warner is shelving an expensive movie because despite all it's diversity and wokism, it's crap. So said the preview audiences.
It's in the Must Reads: Hollywood is rethinking woke; NYT calls this "regression"
The rest of the corporate HR and Diversity departments haven't caught on.

Why these companies take public political stands against at least half their customers makes no sense to me. They are also angering at least of their stockholders. It’s time for some public corporate boards to do some management changes.
