'Big Mistake!': Trump drops Truth bomb
after DeSantis endorses GOP candidate
he disavowed

Former President Donald Trump fired off a foreboding Truth on Sunday night, reacting to a Washington Examiner exclusive that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for a Republican candidate whom Trump has rejected. That candidate is Joe O’Dea, the underdog Senate contender in Colorado who is trailing Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in public opinion polls and last week made waves when he vowed to "actively campaign against" Trump and spoke favorably of other party heavyweights, including DeSantis. Sharing the article written by Washington Examiner senior political correspondent David Drucker on his Truth Social platform, Trump added a brief message. "A BIG MISTAKE!" Trump said in all capital letters.

Comments:

A range war between Trump and DeSantis at this point would be a big mistake and horribly ill-timed.

The Conservative Tree House has stated that DeSantis is the new Jeb Bush - favored by the GOPe. This endorsement certainly adds to fuel to that fire. My DH refuses to vote for O'Dea, but I was leaning towards holding my nose and voting for him. Now I'm not so sure.

Everybody did the right thing except O'Dea. He shouldn't have, but of course he should win anyway if we can manage it. De Santis did right to say so. At that, it is fine if Trump fires back because O'Dea is insulting him - no surprise there. But Trump is supporting De Santis anyway. Everybody except O'Dea is being reasonable. And if O'Dea earnestly believes silly things then he must say them. Lotta silly GOP. Better than donkeys though.

Anyone who won’t vote for a repub over a dem/socialist shouldn’t call themselves a Republican. Trump should stay out of this voting cycle. Just because someone doesn’t think Trump is infallible should not be ostracized from party.

O'Dea is trailing according to polls and isn't going to beat the democrat incumbent, Bennet. Trump is correct in that he is a RINO, trying to unseat an incumbent democrat in a blue state. When are these dolts going to learn that you can't beat a democrat by campaigning as democrat "lite." If you don't run full bore MAGA, to get the republican base activated, you have no chance. It's like these other dolts who, as soon as they are accused of "racism" by the other side, grovel and apologize, thinking that will get them a pass. It never does, and in fact, usually results in more and more stringent attacks and eventual "cancellation."

A Republican in Colorado or Maine is far different than a Republican in Texas or Florida. It's okay to not agree on every issue, and O'Dea has the right to say he wouldn't support a 2024 Trump candidacy. He did not say he would not vote for him if he was the Republican nominee. Remember, you need to have the Majority in the Senate to actually do anything. Better to have Schumer in the minority party.

If this article is correct then we have another example of President Trump at his worst. The midterms are not about him or the stolen 2020 election. They are about Republicans taking over the House and Senate. Get on board, President, or keep quiet. If DeSantis’ endorsement helps even a little in pushing O’Dea over the top then Go Ron. As an American distressed by the crap this country is becoming I don’t care if a candidate doesn’t suck up to Trump. O’Dea was a fool to diss Trump. Trump is no fool and should be above pettiness. DeSantis is looking better all the time.

I guess O'Dea is the only Republican running in that race. So why wouldn't DeSantis endorse that candidate? Whose does he want to win, a demoslut? While it would be nice to have nothing but conservative Trump supporters running in every race, Trump's name is toxic to too many people as a result of the media. In a close race, not being on Trump's good side might mean the difference between winning and losing. Just because some little online website thinks DeSantis is the next Jeb Bush doesn't make it so. Up to this point, DeSantis hasn't shown any Jeb Bush tendencies.

Am so sick of this and why I and others, though voting and spending for Trump twice, will not support him in future. He is thin skinned and savage....he lost us the Senate ( to DISASTROUS results) when he went after the Ga. candidates when they would not say 2020 was rigged, and went after O"Dea instantly when the candidate said HE would not support Trump in 2024. Trump acts like a petulant child, and no matter how good he was as President---and he could be terrific---he cares more about himself than us. He does not care if we go down if flames in a terrifying time. And as to all those posters who think he walks on water and is God incarnate. GROW UP!!!!!!!

What #18 said. Trump complains loudly and frequently about RINO candidates, but it is Trump who does damage to Republican chances by making himself the story. The two Georgia Senate seats decided in January 2021 were crucial losses in the Democrats reaching 50 seats. IMO, one or possibly both of those seats could have gone Republican and given the Senate control to the Republicans. But it was all about Trump whining and shooting his mouth off. Past time for Trump to leave the stage.

When Donald Trump decided to run for president, he aligned himself with the Republican Party and later, he refused the siren call of a third party, remaining a Republican. Yes, Republicans have some RINOs within their midst, but had Republicans controlled the House, he would have never been impeached. Conversely, had democrats controlled the Senate as well as the House, he would have been removed from office, barring him from even thinking about 2024. As such, I'm trying to understand how Trump signaling that bad things will befall Republicans who express political support for the candidate who was selected by Colorado Republican voters to be their senate candidate this year will benefit the country in general, and in particular, the efforts to Make America Great Again. Doesn't disavowing the Republican candidate default to a tacit endorsement of the democrat incumbent? As far as voting for RINOs, when did Oz become a paragon of Republican virtue?

Like all good men, Trump has clay feet. His weakest point is having an ego that makes him always have something to say ... even when it doesn't directly involve him. Silence is truly golden. And, no, you don't have to hit back every time! We all learned that on the kindergarten playground. Just leave it be sometimes and don't take the bait as it will only escalate --- and you become the reason it gets worse. I don't know the candidates in Colorado from Adam but it's simple mathematics. Vote for the Republican and hope he stays true on votes but --- no matter ---- his presence shifts the total Senate count to help us. Or ... you can vote for the Demo-rat and be assured that the total number goes up by one (and perhaps that is the one that gives UpChuck Schumer his majority!) and that guy will almost always support Biden. No coin toss here! Get rid of the Dem by any means necessary.

Part of the problem is the BIG MISTAKE Trump made by claiming that the runoff vote for the Senate in Georgia in 2020 was “rigged” in favor of the Democrats. This is widely believed to have resulted in suppressing the Republican turnout, thus giving the win to the Democrat. The resulting 50-50 split gave control of the Senate to the Democrats because Kamala’s vote breaks the tie in favor of the Democrats ever time. If a Joe O’Dea win would have resulted in a Republican majority in the Senate, except for Trump’s opposition, it would be a repeat of the Georgia runoff — a really BIG MISTAKE!!!

Trump is mad at DeSantis because DeSantis is supporting a Republican over a Democrat in a general election Senate race. So Trump would rather have the Dem win. I'm sure Chuck Shumer is happy to have Trump's help with his efforts to maintain control of the Senate !!!! I've supported Trump in the past, but I'm tired of him feeding his ego at the expense of Republicans, and I'm equally tired of his vendettas. Some of the comments are a bit confusing. If Trump and Conservative Republicans are truly held in such low regard by the majority of voters in Colorado, and the Republican candidate has made his contempt for Trump crystal clear, how is it possible that opposition from Trump, or anything said by him, would have enough negative impact to cause that candidate to lose the election? It seems Trump’s comments should help the candidate. Wouldn’t DeSantis cause suspicions & be the one to blame for the loss by lending his support, if those Colorado voters view him as conservative & they would not support conservatives.

Florida’s Fentanyl Crisis: The ‘Revolving
Door of Overdose’

Florida’s fentanyl crisis is a “revolving door of overdose,” a top health official says. According to Centers for Disease Control data, there were 7,738 reported overdose deaths in Florida between May 2020 to May 2021. From May 2021 to May 2022, that number rose to 7,942. According to Dr. Kenneth Scheppke, Deputy Secretary for Health at the Florida Department of Health (FDH), problems with illicit substances in the United States are nothing new, but they have become far more deadly because of fentanyl. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid up to 100 times more potent than morphine. As little as two milligrams, equivalent to five grains of salt, can be fatal.

Morality and civility could argue that we should forgive those who vilified us for choosing medical sovereignty, non-compliance with unconstitutional mandates, and simply questioning the narrative, but it’s not that simple. As Republican Adam Laxalt’s lead in the Nevada Senate race dwindles with 93% of the vote counted, his campaign is reportedly “bracing for a loss” and weighing asking for a recount. Laxalt is ahead of incumbent Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto by just 800 votes after 23,000 mail-in ballots were tabulated in Clark County on Friday. The results from the mail-in ballots are favoring Cortez Masto at a 2-1 rate. Clark County, home to Las Vegas, reportedly has about 27,000 mail-in ballots left to be counted.

Control of the Senate still hung in the balance on Friday, forcing Senate Republicans to briefly put aside their intraparty blame game as they go all-in on winning Georgia’s Senate runoff. The Senate majority could be decided in the coming days if Democrats defend the seats they hold in both Arizona and Nevada, where votes continue to be counted. But if the GOP picks up just one of those seats, Senate control will be determined by a Dec. 6 runoff election in the Peach State. GOP operatives continued to express optimism about the party’s chances of picking up a seat in Nevada

Phoenix - Incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly defeated Republican Blake Masters on Friday to win a U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, a contest that left Democrats one seat short in the battle for control of the chamber with two more races to be decided. The win by Kelly, a former astronaut whose wife, Gabby Giffords, survived an assassination attempt when she was a U.S. lawmaker, meant Democrats had battled to a 49-49 tie in the race for the Senate. "I'm humbled by the trust our state has placed in me to continue this work," Kelly said on Twitter. Control of the Senate - and the shape of President

Nevada incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto survived a challenge, defeating Republican Adam Laxalt and helping Democrats hold onto U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press call of the race. Nevada was one of Republicans' top targets as they tried to break the Senate's 50-50 split, and Cortez Masto's reelection was a toss-up coming into the election. She was running neck and neck with Laxalt, Nevada's former attorney general who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Cortez Masto served two terms as Nevada's attorney general before becoming the first Latina ever elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. She campaigned on women's reproductive rights,

When Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart and New York Times columnist David Brooks joined PBS NewsHour host Judy Woodruff for their Friday recap of the week’s news, the natural topic of conversation was the election results. Capehart’s big takeaway was that things other than the economy, like abortion, saved Democrats while Brooks cheered the demise of populism inspired by Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Donald Trump. After being asked by Woodruff what voters were saying on Tuesday, Capehart replied, “Simple message. Voters are trying to say, we can walk and chew gum at the same time.

The Biden administration has stopped taking applications for its student debt forgiveness program, citing a Thursday ruling from a federal judge in Texas that declared the program "unlawful." On Friday, the Department of Education's student debt relief website displayed a message informing borrowers that "student loan debt relief is blocked." It added, "Courts have issued orders blocking our student debt relief program. As a result, at this time, we are not accepting applications. We are seeking to overturn those orders." The Education Department said it will hold the applications for the roughly 26 million people who have already applied for forgiveness.
