Authorities served search warrants Wednesday morning in connection with the slaying of Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter Jeff German, Las Vegas police said. Around 7 a.m., reporters observed uniformed officers and police vehicles outside the home of Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles, who had been the focus of recent reporting by German. Authorities also had taped off a section around Telles’ home. Shortly before 9 a.m., police said they were serving search warrants in the 7200 block of Bronze Circle, where the killing occurred.

Comments:

The suspect is not a MAGA Republican. Or even a non-MAGA Republican. Does not fit national media narrative about threat of violence from the right.

After having to DIG AROUND a bit, Telles is a Democrat. Something tells me had he been a Republican that would have been the first word in the headline.

Obviously. The Associated Press style manual forbids the mention of the Democrat political party affiliation of any suspected wrong-doer. If such a mention is necessary, it should not occur before the 10th paragraph, or when the story goes to a back page (whichever is later). If the perp is a Republican, conservative, or Bible-believing Christian, such mention should be made as early as possible. Don't laugh. I read an article about a county official here in Texas who was on the take. Of course, a Democrat. The article interviewed Republicans who ran in a primary against the official (although technically, the race was to determine the Republican opponent of the subject of the article), prominently mentioning that they were Republicans, but NEVER mentioned the perp was a Democrat. It would be easy to surmise that the perp was a Republican, since no Democrats were identified or mentioned.

The Putin approach. If a reporter exposes your fraud in public, you kill them. Works for the Clintons, too. Doesn't seem to be working for this guy.

Sam Harris deserves our gratitude. With dazzling honesty, the liberal atheist public intellectual from LA has said out loud what we all knew but which his ilk have blurred for the past two years: Once you decide Donald Trump is the second coming of Adolf Hitler, then anything is legitimate to stop him — and, yes, everything illegitimate was done to stop him in 2020, and it was “warranted.”

Because most people don’t know a farmer personally anymore, everyone should realize that they don’t make piles of money producing our food. A good year can be followed by three bad ones, and 2022 has been a burden. Between record heat waves in the U.S. and abroad, droughts in the middle of the country, fertilizer shortages, and rising costs for just about every farm input, many American farms are on the brink. Everyone will feel the pinch in continued food price increases and shortages at the store. As bad as the agricultural outlook is in America, it is far worse in Europe. The dedication to a green energy suicide pact

Please pause for a moment and say a prayer for the vulnerable and terrified Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Mars), a key member of Amerikkka’s marginalized community of color. So marginalized, despised, discriminated against, and harassed is AOC that she had to take to the pages of GQ, that plucky, ragtag samizdat mouthpiece of the people, to explain just how marginalized and harassed she is. In a loving interview topped with lavish glamor shots of the rising political star, a teary-eyed AOC revealed that there is such a tidal wave of misogyny in the evil, MAGA-ridden United States today that she isn’t even sure she will live through the month of September.

Joe Manchin cast the deciding vote for the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, and it may end up costing him his political career if a new poll is to be believed. Manchin, who had originally pledged not to sign on to any new spending bill during the country’s current inflationary boom, suddenly switched his position at the end of July. The bill he negotiated, which cost nearly a trillion dollars, was full of wasteful green energy subsidies and payouts to special interests. It also represented a stabbing in the back of Republican senators who had trusted him to keep his word about reconciliation after voting for the CHIPS Act.

To Europe, anyway. Years of horrible decisions by European leaders have come home to roost, as Europeans now worry about how to heat their homes this winter. Other than anyone with a modicum of common sense? Which Europe’s governing class has lacked for many years.
