A young mother pushing her 3-month-old baby in a stroller was fatally shot Wednesday night on an Upper East Side street, law enforcement sources said.
The 20-year-old woman was shot in the head by a suspect who approached her from behind at Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street around 8:20 p.m., according to sources.

Federal prosecutors announced capital smuggling charges Wednesday against two men they say were involved with the truck found on the side of a San Antonio road with the bodies of dozens of dead illegal immigrants packed inside.
Authorities have identified Homero Zamorano Jr., an American citizen, as the driver of the truck, and have also connected Christian Martinez to the smuggling attempt.
Mr. Zamorano, 45, faces a charge of smuggling resulting in death, which carries a possible death sentence. Mr. Martinez, 28, was charged with conspiracy to smuggle aliens resulting in death, which prosecutors said also carries a potential death sentence.

A 34-year-old Colorado man is recovering after he was gored by a bison Monday at Yellowstone National Park.
According to park officials, he was walking on a boardwalk with his family near the Old Faithful geyser.
The group reportedly did not leave the area when a bison charged at them.
The bull bison continued to charge and gored the man, causing injury to his arm.
He was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
Park officials say the matter is under investigation, but language in the news release suggests the man was too close to the bison.
ROME — Catholic League president Bill Donohue slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Wednesday for politicizing the Eucharist by receiving Communion at the Vatican.
Pelosi, “who rejects the Catholic Church’s teachings on abortion, marriage and sexuality, received Holy Communion on June 29 at a papal Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica,” Dr. Donohue noted. “The pope was in attendance, but did not give out Communion.”

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, a prominent conservative activist who is also married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is demanding that the House Select Committee on Jan. 6 elaborate on its basis for soliciting testimony over privately petitioning her own government.
Hours after the Jan. 6 Committee wrapped up its sixth hearing on Tuesday, Ginni’s attorney, Mark Paoletta, sent a letter to the panel’s leadership requesting specifics on why the probe with an open animosity for the Thomas family seeks to publicly drag his client before lawmakers.
“Mrs. Thomas is eager to clear her name and is willing to appear before the Committee to do so,” Paoletta wrote
A former cargo handling company employee at Los Angeles International Airport was sentenced Monday to 12 months in federal prison for stealing four gold bars that were part of a larger shipment headed from Australia to New York.
Marlon Moody, 39, of South Los Angeles, was sentenced by United States District Judge Dale S. Fischer, who also ordered him to pay a fine of $7,500.
Moody pleaded guilty in July 2021 to one count of conspiracy to commit theft of an interstate or foreign shipment.
